The two-part soul of Daoist and traditional Chinese cosmology: the hun, the yang, ethereal aspect said to ascend at death and require ancestral rites to settle, and the po, the yin, corporeal aspect tied to the body and buried with it. Belongs here: a soul component named specifically within this hun-po scheme. Does not belong here: the ka, ba and akh of Ancient Egyptian belief or the sefirot-linked soul levels of Kabbalah, which divide the person along entirely different lines and are grouped under their own headings.
