Muhammad ibn Ali Ba Alawi, commonly known as al-Faqih al-Muqaddam, lived from 1178 to 1255 (corrected from an earlier 1178-1232 figure; the article's own infobox gives Born 574 H / 1178 CE, Died 653 H / 1255 CE, and is known as the founder of the Ba Alawiyya Sufi order, which has influenced Sufism in Yemen, South Asia and Southeast Asia. He was the only son of Ali ibn Muhammad Sahib al-Mirbath, and all seventy five families of the Ba Alawi sada that spread from Yemen to Southeast Asia trace their roots to him.
