The Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul is the mother church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Philadelphia and the seat of its archbishop. Completed in 1864 in a Palladian style modeled on Roman basilicas, it stands near Benjamin Franklin Parkway and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Pope Francis elevated it to a minor basilica in 2016, ahead of his visit to the city that year.
