Franciscan Friars, Province of the Immaculate Conception Verified Organization

About

The Province of the Immaculate Conception is a province of the Order of Friars Minor (Franciscans) tracing its origin to four Italian friars who arrived in New York City in 1855; it was formally erected as a province in 1872 and named for the Immaculate Conception. The friars founded St. Bonaventure University and today serve in the United States, Canada, Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, and Italy. Unlike several other US OFM provinces, it remained independent when five sister provinces merged in 2023 to form the Province of Our Lady of Guadalupe, and continues to operate from its New York City friary.
