GLIDE, historically Glide Memorial Church, is a congregation in the Tenderloin district of San Francisco founded in 1929 and named for Methodist philanthropist Lizzie Glide. The church was affiliated with the United Methodist Church for most of its history, but a legal dispute with the California-Nevada Annual Conference led to a formal separation from the denomination in 2020, and it now operates independently alongside the Glide Foundation's social-service programs. GLIDE remains known nationally for its inclusive Sunday "Celebrations" and its work on poverty, housing, and harm reduction in the Tenderloin.
