About

The Independent Presbyterian Church of Savannah, founded in 1755, is the oldest Presbyterian congregation in Georgia and traces its roots to Church of Scotland settlers granted land by King George II. The church has historically operated outside formal denominational structures, a status reflected in its name; its own published history does not state a current denominational affiliation. Its Bull Street sanctuary, rebuilt in 1891 after an 1889 fire, is modeled on the original 1819 building and remains a Savannah landmark.
