The Muslim Community Association (MCA) of the San Francisco Bay Area was incorporated as a nonprofit religious organization in 1981, purchased its first mosque building in 1984, and expanded to its main Scott Boulevard campus in Santa Clara in 1993. MCA describes itself as one of the largest Islamic centers in the United States, hosting more than 3,000 worshippers for Friday prayers, and also operates the Masjid Al-Noor facility elsewhere in Santa Clara. Its programs include worship services, education, youth and women's programming, and social services.
