The temple on the hills at Tirumala is dedicated to Venkateswara, a form of Vishnu, and is among the most visited places of worship in the world, with something like twenty four million pilgrims a year and daily attendance above sixty thousand. It is administered by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams, an autonomous body under the government of Andhra Pradesh, which also runs hospitals, schools and free meal services from the offerings placed in the Sri Vari Hundi.
