The Juxtaposition Cross of Values is named here for Gate 50 and Gate 3. Its first article reads Gate 50 as the instinctive sense of responsibility that guards a group and its rules, now the more exposed gate, and Gate 3 as the energy to bring order out of a genuinely new beginning. What it does not trace is where the four gates sit on the wheel itself, the Human Design mandala's division of its sixty four gates into four Quarters, and by that measure this cross draws one gate from each of the four.
Gate 50, the personality gate here, falls in the Quarter of Duality, purpose fulfilled through bonding. Gate 3, its personality partner, falls in the Quarter of Initiation, purpose fulfilled through mind. Behind them, Gate 31 falls in the Quarter of Civilization, purpose fulfilled through form, and Gate 41 falls in the Quarter of Mutation, purpose fulfilled through transformation.
So the guarded rule and the ordered beginning the first article reads on this cross's surface answer to the arcs of bonding and mind, while the elected leadership and the anticipated cycle beneath them answer to the arcs of form and transformation. The same pair, exchanged, is this cross's own reversal, the Juxtaposition Cross of Mutation, and, held instead in the Left Angle family, the Cross of Wishes, both orderings; the Right Angle family carries the identical pair too, as the Cross of Laws, both orderings. Four gates, four different Quarters, no pair sharing an arc: this cross draws its whole reading from every corner of the wheel's own purpose rather than concentrated in one.
