What a National Budget Does Not Count

This article records tradition as it has been passed down and reported. Its sources are not yet part of the atlas's verified catalogue.

The National Council of the United States Society of St. Vincent de Paul's most recent audited accounts report total revenue of 11,078,812 US dollars against total expenses of 10,957,206 US dollars for the year ended 30 September 2025. Set beside a network of roughly 4,000 local, separately incorporated Conferences and Councils, that figure is unmistakably the coordinating office's own operating budget, not a consolidated total of the direct aid the Society's Conferences give out nationwide, and the organization's own reporting discloses that distinction plainly rather than letting the two figures blur together.

A more widely quoted claim, that the Society helps more than a stated number of million people a year, circulates in secondary summaries without a consistent date attached to it or a clear accounting of how it is compiled across thousands of independently incorporated local units, so it was not treated as an equivalent figure here. The honest picture the audited numbers support is narrower and more useful for what it is: an eleven-million-dollar national coordinating office sitting atop four thousand Conferences whose own, uncounted aggregate of home visits and material assistance is almost certainly the larger number, just not one that any single balance sheet currently states.

View At A Past Year

The atlas records no dated fact of its own for this entry, so there is no other year to choose.
