Masjid Muhammad, known as "The Nation's Mosque," was erected in 1960 in Washington, D.C., and serves several thousand Muslims of the Washington metropolitan area. The mosque follows the Sunni Islamic tradition associated with the leadership of the late Imam W. Deen Mohammed, who led the community's transition from the Nation of Islam to mainstream Sunni practice in the 1970s. It hosts weekly Friday Jumu'ah services and community programming.
