Porfiry Korneyevich Ivanov was a Ukrainian mystic whose beliefs attained cult status, with followers estimated in the tens of thousands; the Russian Orthodox Church has considered his teachings heretical and calls his movement the Ivanovites. He promoted a health system called Detka, based on the belief that removing one's clothing in cold weather and swimming in icy water brought a person closer to nature, and claimed to have cured himself of cancer through spiritual cleansing and exposure to extreme cold.
