Tansar

Tansar was a Zoroastrian Herbadan Herbad, a chief judge, active in the late Parthian Empire and a supporter of Ardashir I. Apparently a Parthian aristocrat who had turned to Neoplatonic beliefs, he joined Ardashir I and became Herbadan Herbad during his reign, and was commissioned to collect the Avesta; the date of his death is unknown. His best known work is his letter to Goshnasb, one of the most important surviving writings in Middle Persian literature, which provides valuable information about the social and administrative organization of Iran under the Sasanians.
