The Foundress' Festival, also called the Autumn Grand Festival, is held on the sixth of November at Ayabe and commemorates Deguchi Nao, the woman whose revelations beginning in 1892 founded Omoto. It is one of four seasonal grand festivals in the Omoto calendar, alongside gatherings in February, May and August.

Observance NoteSourced to the subject's own accountThe festival's home at Ayabe was twice demolished by the Japanese government in what Omoto's own history calls the first and second Omoto Incidents, in 1921 and again more thoroughly in 1935, when authorities dynamited the compound's buildings and prosecuted its leaders for lese-majeste and violating the peace preservation law.
