Panquetzaliztli (Raising of Banners) was the veintena festival dedicated to Huitzilopochtli, held around the winter solstice and marked by the raising of paper banners, ritual foot races reenacting the god's birth and defeat of his sister Coyolxauhqui, and the making and ritual consumption of an image of the god formed from amaranth dough (tzoalli).
