Qingmiao ("Hallowed Temple") is a ritual eulogy in the Zhou Song (Sacrificial Odes of Zhou) section of the Shijing, the Book of Odes, sung in the ancestral temple of the Zhou royal house and dated among the oldest strata of the whole anthology, the eleventh to ninth centuries BCE. The hymn describes and enacts the sacrificial ceremony it accompanies, a self-referential form typical of the Zhou temple hymns, and its canonization within the Shijing made it part of the Confucian classical curriculum for two and a half thousand years.
