Nasuhi

The Nasuhi are a sub-order of the Khalwati Sufi order, founded by Pir Nasuhi, a prolific author who wrote a number of works including a commentary on the Qur'an. He died and was buried at his Ozbekler Tekkesi in Uskudar, Istanbul, and the order's center was in Dogancilar, a sub-district of Uskudar, where the grand sheikh of the order sat at the Nasuhi Tekke. The order was never widespread, maintaining only a handful of tekkes in Istanbul and Bursa, and when Turkey became a republic and closed all tekkes, the Nasuhi tekke was later reopened as a mosque, with Sheikh Nasuhi's resting place remaining a pilgrimage site for pious Muslims.
