A small faience inlay, about 8.2 by 4.2 centimeters, showing the falcon-headed sun god Ra in a squatting posture and crowned with a sun disk, dated to the Late Period to Ptolemaic Period, 4th century BCE, and likely originating from Hermopolis in Middle Egypt. Held by the Metropolitan Museum of Art under accession 26.7.1004, acquired in 1926 through the Edward S. Harkness Gift. The piece combines the falcon and the solar disk, the two central emblems of Ra's iconography, into a single decorative fitting, the kind of small inlaid piece produced in quantity for shrine and coffin decoration.
