A Pahari painting of the Kangra school, made around 1830 at the court of Raja Aniruddh Chand of Kangra in gum tempera, ink and gold on paper, held by the Cleveland Museum of Art, accession 1989.332, bequest of Mrs. Severance A. Millikin. It illustrates a scene from the Ramayana's forest exile: Rama and Sita rest together beneath a tree near a small shrine while Lakshmana prepares a meal at a nearby fire, the hilly Kangra Valley landscape rendered with jagged white mountains beneath an orange sky and a peacock and deer in the foreground.
