Hymiskvida

A poem of the Poetic Edda telling of Thor's journey with the giant Hymir to fish for a cauldron large enough to brew ale for all the gods, in which Thor hooks the Midgard Serpent Jormungandr from the seabed before the terrified Hymir cuts the line; independently attested in pre-Christian carved stone, it is judged by philologists to preserve a considerably older poem than its thirteenth century manuscript.
