Tan Luat, the Canonical Codes, is Cao Dai's core rule text, setting out the religion's organisation and conduct from ordinary believer up to pope, and covering matters from education to marriage. It stands alongside two companion texts: Phap Chanh Truyen, the Religious Constitution, which sets out the authority, responsibility and limits of the religion's hierarchy, and Kinh Thien Dao Va The Dao, the Prayers of the Heavenly and Earthly Way, used in daily and ceremonial worship. Together the three form Cao Dai's working canon.
