Ashtadhyayi

Panini's Ashtadhyayi, the eight chapters of Sanskrit grammar, is a primary ancient Indian grammatical text; the atlas deliberately leaves its date unassigned rather than guessed, since Panini's own dates are not settled among scholars, and records no publisher or publication year for the same reason, since it survives through transmission rather than a single dated modern edition. Its strength is that it is the primary source itself, the actual grammar rather than a later description of it. Its limit is the ordinary one for citing a classical grammatical text without specifying a translation or commentary tradition: this record does not establish which one underlies a given citation.
