John Dee's Five Books of Mystery: Original Sourcebook of Enochian Magic

Joseph Peterson's edition is a critical scholarly presentation of John Dee's own sixteenth century angelic conversation diaries, the primary documentary source for the whole Enochian system of ceremonial magic, prepared with Peterson's own editorial annotation and apparatus rather than a bare unannotated transcription. This record notes that a shorter section of this same primary material, the Heptarchia, is also separately transcribed elsewhere in the register and was cross checked against this fuller edition. Use it for the documented content of Dee's original angelic workings as he recorded them, with Peterson's editorial apparatus; it is a primary text with critical support, not evidence that the communications it records are what Dee believed them to be, and not a source on the Golden Dawn's later, independently developed elaboration of Enochian magic.
