Parliament passed the repeal unanimously on 5 March 2019 as part of a package removing what the Justice Minister called anachronistic laws; the offense had not been prosecuted since 1922. The Act received Royal Assent on 11 March 2019 and the repeal came into force the following day.FactsClaims Backed By This Source (7 claims)Comments (0)Reader Challenges (0 open reader challenges)FactsAssessmentReliability TierWell-attested1New Zealand's own official legislation website publishing the enacted statute text that repealed Section 123 of the Crimes Act 1961, the strongest possible form for a fact about whether a law was repealed and how, hence the top tier.CitationPublisherWell-attestedNew Zealand Parliamentary Counsel OfficeURLWell-attestedhttps://www.legislation.govt.nz/act/public/2019/0004/latest/LMS22750.htmlSource TypeWell-attestedprimary source / official recordClaims Backed By This Source (7 claims)This source backs 7 claims across the atlas.
