The Catholic Encyclopedia is a public domain reference completed in 1913, which this atlas states plainly as a real limit: it predates over a century of subsequent Catholic historical scholarship, and a claim resting on current scholarly consensus should not rely on it alone. What has held up well is its documented strength on the history of Latin liturgical books and votive practice, technical historical material less prone to being overtaken by later doctrinal or historiographical shifts than its more contemporary judgments would have been. This atlas also holds a separate record for this encyclopedia's own entry on Joachim Bouvet; the two are the same 1913 editorial voice under different atlas records, and citing both together is one witness, not two independent ones.
