Luis O. Gomez is a scholar of Buddhist studies, and this book, published by University of Hawaii Press, presents scholarly translations of the Sanskrit and Chinese versions of the Sukhavativyuha sutras, the foundational texts describing Amitabha Buddha's Pure Land, together with Gomez's own critical introduction to Pure Land Buddhist thought.
