The Navajo Nation's official government website, navajo-nsn.gov, is the sovereign Navajo Nation's own published account of its history and religion, maintained by the tribal government itself rather than by an outside publisher. Its strength is that it is authoritative for what the Navajo Nation itself states about its own history, governance and traditions, the correct kind of source to cite when the claim is about the Nation's own self-presentation. Its limit, which needs to be stated plainly rather than assumed, is that it is a government's own account rather than an independent peer reviewed ethnography or history, so a claim treating it as confirming a contested historical or anthropological point beyond what the Nation itself asserts needs an independent scholarly source as well; the two are not interchangeable, and this source speaks only for the Nation's own voice.
