The Quran, Sacred Books of the East, volumes 6 and 9

E. H. Palmer's translation is a public domain nineteenth century English rendering of the Quran, prepared for the Sacred Books of the East series and now hosted, with separately supplied Arabic transliteration, by the Internet Sacred Text Archive. This record states a specific, checkable technical limit rather than leaving a citation mismatch unexplained: this source was merged from an earlier duplicate entry, and Palmer's own ayah numbering in the long Medinan suras runs one behind the count used by most modern editions, an offset recorded in each affected citation note rather than silently producing a wrong verse reference. Use it for the wording of a specific verse as this period translation renders it, checking the numbering offset; a claim resting on a contested modern reading needs a current scholarly translation alongside it.
