The Sermons of John Wesley

John Wesley's sermons are his own primary theological and homiletic record, published and republished across his lifetime and after in various collected editions, and this record states honestly that no single publication year can be given to a body of work assembled from decades of individually preached and separately printed sermons. As a primary text this modern collected edition is authoritative for what Wesley himself preached and taught on a given topic, checkable directly against a named sermon, not for how later Methodist bodies have since revised or departed from a specific position Wesley took. Use it to establish what Wesley himself argued in a named sermon; a claim about a current Methodist denomination's position needs that denomination's own current statement.
