Timaeus

The Timaeus is Plato's own dialogue setting out his account of the cosmos, the creation of the physical world by a divine craftsman, and the nature of the soul, one of the most influential texts in the entire history of Western cosmological and religious thought. As a primary philosophical source it is the strongest possible evidence for Plato's own cosmological reasoning, cited here as content rather than through one specific modern edition, so it carries no publisher or fixed year the way a printed translation would. Its limit is that the dialogue is famously difficult and was read very differently by later Platonist, Christian and Gnostic interpreters who each drew their own conclusions from it, so a claim about what a later tradition made of the Timaeus needs that tradition's own source rather than the dialogue alone.
