A landmark academic monograph in the Boasian ethnographic tradition and still the standard citation for the structure of Zuni origin narrative. Its strength is that it is a peer recognized scholarly study built on direct ethnographic fieldwork. Its limit is its age and the conventions of its era's ethnography; later scholarship, and the Zuni's own contemporary accounts of their tradition, should be consulted alongside it for a fuller picture.
