Origin from 2026

On 27 to 30 May 2026, more than 300 delegates from across the Seventh-day Adventist Church's Inter-American Division gathered at the University of the Southern Caribbean in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, for the Intercultural Mission Church Planting Summit, the first gathering of its kind the division had held. Under the theme Grounded in the Bible, Living the Mission, delegates including pastors, young adults, professionals, educators and church planters explored new approaches to volunteer mission service, church planting and intercultural ministry as societies across the region grow more urban, secular and religiously diverse. On 30 May, Adventist leaders signed a memorandum of understanding establishing the Intercultural Mission Training Institute at the university, a center meant to prepare missionaries for cross cultural service across Inter-America. General Conference president Erton Kohler arrived on 28 May as the summit's keynote speaker and challenged delegates to advance the church's mission with boldness, and more than twenty attendees publicly committed to missionary service in response.
