On 5 April 2020, during the Sunday morning session of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' 190th Annual General Conference, broadcast to an empty twenty-one thousand seat Conference Center because of the coronavirus pandemic, President Russell M. Nelson read a new proclamation, The Restoration of the Fulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, A Bicentennial Proclamation to the World, pre-recorded in the Sacred Grove near Palmyra, New York, the site associated with Joseph Smith's First Vision in the spring of 1820. Authored by the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, it was the sixth proclamation issued in the Church's history, following those of 1841, 1845, 1865, 1980 and 1995, and it marked two hundred years since the First Vision by restating the Church's own claims about Christ's supremacy in salvation, the restoration of priesthood authority, and the Book of Mormon.
