The worldwide Christian tradition of staging the suffering, death and resurrection of Christ specifically, as distinct from the broader mystery and morality repertoire: the Passion Play tradition in general, the Oberammergau Passion Play (the Bavarian village vow-play performed since 1634), Senakulo (Philippine Holy Week drama) and the Messiah pageant staged by the Pentecostals of Alexandria in Louisiana. Belongs here: a performance whose entire dramatic subject is Christ's own passion, death and resurrection, wherever in the world it is staged. Does not belong here: a European biblical cycle covering the whole of sacred history rather than the passion alone, held under Christian Liturgical and Mystery Drama.
