Three Surahs Recommended for Seeing the Day with the Heart

A hadith transmitted in the collection of al-Tirmidhi has the Prophet recommend that whoever wishes to see the Day of Judgement as though with their own eyes should read At-Takwir, Al-Infitar and Al-Inshiqaq, three short surahs grouped together in devotional practice for the vividness and concreteness of their cosmic imagery, the sun folded, the sky split, the earth flattened, rather than for any shared narrative content beyond this common apocalyptic register. The three are not formally paired in obligatory ritual the way some other short surahs are for specific prayers, but the hadith gave them a lasting devotional association in recitation and memorisation practice.

At-Takwir's own closing affirmation that the Quran is delivered through 'a noble messenger' answers, directly within the same short chapter, the charges of madness and false vision the surah has just denied, so that its concluding verses function as a rebuttal immediately following, rather than separately from, the apocalyptic imagery that gives the surah its recommended devotional use. Later reciters sometimes read all three surahs consecutively in a single sitting specifically on the strength of this hadith, treating the sequence as a short, self-contained meditation on the Last Day.
