Michelle A. Motuzas

Michelle Motuzas describes her background as rooted in more than twenty years of study in shamanic energy work, holding a masters degree in shamanic reiki and working as a certified healer, psychic medium and card reader. Her mixed media artwork draws directly on that background, using symbolism she says is intended to connect the energy of physical and spiritual experience, rendered largely against dark, black backgrounds in a style distinct from the pastel or watercolor approach common among other oracle deck illustrators.

Her best known work, the Shamanic Healing Oracle Cards, was published by Schiffer Publishing in 2016 as a forty four card deck built around that symbolism and her shamanic training. Shamanism itself is a broad category covering practices found across many indigenous and traditional cultures worldwide, and contemporary Western practitioners such as Motuzas typically draw eclectically from several such traditions rather than a single documented lineage, a pattern common across the modern oracle card market.

Motuzas presents her own claims of psychic and healing ability as personal spiritual practice rather than clinically demonstrated fact, consistent with how she describes her work across her own site and publisher materials, and continues to create oracle decks and offer readings and healing sessions under her own name from her studio.
