This article records tradition as it has been passed down and reported. Its sources are not yet part of the atlas's verified catalogue.
The Left Angle Cross of the Plane, in this ordering, is named for Gate 6 and Gate 36 rather than Gate 36 and Gate 6, the same four gates as its mirror cross with the personality and design roles exchanged, and its first article reads that exchange as changing the cross from a personal note into one answering to circumstance. What it does not trace is where the four gates sit on the wheel itself, the Human Design mandala's division of its sixty four gates into four Quarters, and by that measure this ordering draws on exactly the same four Quarters as its mirror, one gate from each.
Gate 6, the personality gate here, falls in the Quarter of Duality, purpose fulfilled through bonding. Gate 36, its personality partner, falls in the Quarter of Initiation, purpose fulfilled through mind. Behind them, Gate 15 falls in the Quarter of Civilization, purpose fulfilled through form, and Gate 10 falls in the Quarter of Mutation, purpose fulfilled through transformation.
So the friction and turbulence the first article reads as now answering to circumstance rather than choice still draw on the arcs of bonding and mind, while the tolerance and self-regard beneath them still draw on the arcs of form and transformation. Reversing which gate carries the personality role changes what the cross is read to serve, but it changes nothing about which Quarters supply its four gates: the wheel's own arithmetic does not care which half of the cross a gate is assigned to.
