The Right Angle Cross of Laws is named for Gate 3 and Gate 50. Human Design reads Gate 3, from Hexagram 3, Difficulty at the Beginning, as the pressure to bring order out of a genuinely new start, and Gate 50, from Hexagram 50, The Cauldron, as the instinctive sense of responsibility that guards a group and decides its rules, which is where the cross's laws are read from. It falls in the Right Angle family, and practitioners describe that group as the personal one, a direction shaped by what the individual decides.

Its design half is Gate 60 and Gate 56. Gate 60 sits in the Root and is read as the acceptance of limitation, held to be the only ground from which real change can grow; it pairs elsewhere with Gate 3 in the channel of Mutation, the same gate that names this cross from its personality side. Gate 56 sits in the Throat and is read as the storyteller, stimulating others with ideas drawn from experience whether or not those ideas are strictly true; it pairs with Gate 11 in the channel of Curiosity.

So a chart carrying this cross orders a new beginning under guarded rules on the surface, while beneath it an acceptance of limitation answers to a voice that turns experience into story. The hexagrams are ancient; grouping them into one incarnation cross, and calling the result laws, is the modern system's own construction.

With this fourth arrangement in place, every role rotation of Laws's two gate pairs shares the same wheel wide spread, one gate from each Quarter regardless of order.
