Right Angle Cross of Maya (61/62)

The Right Angle Cross of Maya carries the same two gate pairs as the cross's other three arrangements, here with Gate 61 and Gate 62 exposed. Human Design reads Gate 61, from Hexagram 61, Inner Truth, sitting in the Head, as the pressure to know the mystery behind existence; and Gate 62, from Hexagram 62, Small Preponderance, sitting in the Throat, as detail, the organising of facts into a spoken order. It belongs to the Right Angle family, the largest of the system's three, read as a personal destiny that answers mainly to the individual's own choices.

Its design half is Gate 32 and Gate 42. Gate 32 sits in the Spleen and is read as the instinct for what will last, and caution about change for its own sake; it pairs with Gate 54 in the channel of Transformation. Gate 42 sits in the Sacral centre and is read as the energy to carry a process through to its natural end; it pairs with Gate 53 in the channel of Maturation.

So a chart carrying this cross presses after mystery while naming facts on its surface, while beneath it a caution about lasting answers to an energy that finishes what it starts. All four role arrangements of the same two gate pairs share the name Maya, the Sanskrit word for illusion. The numbers are inherited from the I Ching; reading them as one cross belongs to the modern reading, not the classical one.

Gate 61, the personality gate here, falls in the Quarter of Mutation, purpose fulfilled through transformation. Gate 62, its personality partner, falls in the Quarter of Civilization, purpose fulfilled through form. Behind them, Gate 32 falls in the Quarter of Duality, purpose fulfilled through bonding, and Gate 42 falls in the Quarter of Initiation, purpose fulfilled through mind.

So the pressing after mystery and the naming of facts the first article reads on this ordering's surface answer to the arcs of transformation and form, while the caution about lasting and the drive to finish beneath them answer to the arcs of bonding and mind, the same four arcs the rest of the Maya family draws on however its two pairs are assigned to personality and design. All four role arrangements of the same two gate pairs share this same wheel wide spread, one gate from each Quarter regardless of order.
