This article records tradition as it has been passed down and reported. Its sources are not yet part of the atlas's verified catalogue.
The Right Angle Cross of the Sphinx, in this ordering, is named for Gate 7 and Gate 13 with the personality and design halves reversed from its better known ordering, Gate 1 and Gate 2 now carried unconsciously instead. Its first article reads this exchange as leadership and witness carried forward from a role, in place of expression and direction. What it does not trace is where the four gates sit on the wheel itself, the Human Design mandala's division of its sixty four gates into four Quarters, and by that measure this ordering draws on exactly the same four Quarters as the rest of the family, one gate from each.
Gate 7, the personality gate here, falls in the Quarter of Duality, purpose fulfilled through bonding. Gate 13, its personality partner, falls in the Quarter of Initiation, purpose fulfilled through mind. Behind them, Gate 2 falls in the Quarter of Civilization, purpose fulfilled through form, and Gate 1 falls in the Quarter of Mutation, purpose fulfilled through transformation.
So the leadership and the witness the first article reads on this ordering's surface answer to the arcs of bonding and mind, while the receptive direction and the creative expression beneath them answer to the arcs of form and transformation, the same four arcs the rest of the Sphinx family draws on however its two pairs are assigned to personality and design. Reversing which pair is conscious changes what the cross puts forward, but not which Quarters supply its four gates.
