Right Angle Cross of the Vessel of Love (46/25)

The Right Angle Cross of the Vessel of Love is named for Gate 46 and Gate 25, both seated in the G, or Identity, centre. Human Design reads Gate 46, from Hexagram 46, Pushing Upward, as a love of the body together with a knack for arriving in the right place at the right time, and Gate 25, from Hexagram 25, Innocence, as an innocence that places universal love above any particular attachment. It falls in the Right Angle family, the most populous of the three, and practitioners read that group as personal, a direction shaped chiefly by what the individual decides.

Its design half is also seated entirely in the Identity centre: Gate 15 and Gate 10. Gate 15 is read as a love of humanity broad enough to embrace extremes, with no fixed rhythm; elsewhere it pairs with Gate 5 in the channel of Rhythm. Gate 10 is read as conduct that stays true to one's own nature rather than to expectation; it pairs with Gate 20 in the channel of Awakening.

All four gates named here sit in the same Identity centre, so a chart carrying this cross reads its love of the body, its innocence, its tolerance and its self-regard as four expressions of the one place rather than four separate systems answering to each other. The hexagrams are ancient texts; assembling four of them into one personal cross is the modern system's own construction, dated to 1987.

The Right Angle Cross of the Vessel of Love is named for Gate 46 and Gate 25, and its first article traces both gates and their design counterparts, Gate 15 and Gate 10, to the Identity center they share. What that account does not trace is where each of the four gates sits on the wheel itself, the Human Design mandala that divides the sixty four gates into four Quarters, and by that measure the cross's four gates land in four different Quarters, one each, rather than clustering in one.

Gate 46, the personality gate, falls in the Quarter of Duality, the arc of the wheel whose purpose is fulfilled through bonding. Gate 25, its personality partner, falls in the Quarter of Initiation, the arc whose purpose is fulfilled through mind. Behind them, Gate 15 falls in the Quarter of Civilization, purpose fulfilled through form, and Gate 10 falls in the Quarter of Mutation, purpose fulfilled through transformation.

So a chart carrying this cross draws its love of the body from the arc of bonding, its innocence from the arc of mind, its tolerance from the arc of building form and its self-regard from the arc of transformation, four gates sharing one center in the body but answering to four different arcs of the wheel's own purpose. The four gates line up, one to a Quarter, without pairing Duality with Duality or Mind with Mind, and that spread across the wheel is itself part of what the cross is built from, not an accident of which four hexagrams happened to fall together.
