The Wild Unknown Archetypes is a seventy eight card deck created and illustrated by Kim Krans, published by HarperOne in 2019. Seventy Eight Cards Without Tarot's Suits

The Wild Unknown Archetypes is a seventy eight card deck created and illustrated by Kim Krans, published by HarperOne in 2019. Its card count exactly matches tarot's traditional seventy eight, the same total as Krans's own earlier Wild Unknown Tarot, but its structure does not follow that count for the same reason tarot does. Rather than organizing into the major arcana's twenty two trumps and the minor arcana's four fifty six card suits, Archetypes keys each of its seventy eight cards to a universal psychological archetype rendered in Krans's own hand inked visual language, an oracle style, single symbol structure using a tarot sized deck rather than a tarot structured one.

That choice makes Archetypes an unusual case within the oracle genre, most oracle decks set a card count with no inherited significance, while this one deliberately matches tarot's total without adopting tarot's internal organization. Read intuitively, one or more cards drawn for reflection rather than through any suit or trump sequence, the deck extends Krans's Wild Unknown visual brand a second time beyond tarot, following her Animal Spirit oracle from the previous year and continuing the pattern of adapting her established hand drawn style into new organizing systems built specifically for each deck.
