A nine minute documentary video held in UNESCO's own Multimedia Archives, produced to accompany China's successful 2009 nomination of "Mazu belief and customs" to the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. UNESCO's own description names Mazu outright as "the most influential goddess of the sea in China," documenting the beliefs and customs, oral traditions, religious ceremonies and folk practices that surround her worship in China's coastal regions, including annual temple fairs at which residents suspend their ordinary work to venerate her statue and enjoy ceremonial performances, and smaller year round worship involving floral tributes, incense and evening lantern processions.
