Edward Ullendorff's lectures include a critical scholarly assessment of the Aksum claim to hold the Ark of the Covenant and of the tabot as its liturgical representation, weighing the claim against the actual historical and textual evidence rather than repeating the tradition's own account uncritically. That willingness to assess a major traditional claim critically rather than defer to it is the lectures' real evidentiary contribution.
