Roots

Plants whose significance is carried by the part that grows underground, dug rather than picked. The grouping earns its place because the lifting of a root is itself often ritualised, and because a root keeps: it can be dried, stored and traded long after the growth above ground has died back, which puts these plants into trade routes the others never enter.
