Liturgical Rituals

The fixed rites that structure a tradition's regular corporate worship: named liturgies such as the Roman Rite, the Byzantine Rite, the Coptic Rite and the Divine Liturgy of St John Chrysostom, alongside individual liturgical units such as the Purim Spiel. The category groups by that regular, repeated character rather than by the tradition performing it. Excludes rites performed once in a person's life, such as initiation or funerary rites, which are grouped under their own headings.
