Babi sites mark places significant to the Babi movement, the mid nineteenth century Iranian religion founded by the Bab, whose claim to be a new prophetic messenger predates and prepares the ground for the later Baha'i Faith. The two are related but not identical, and a site can belong to the histories of both traditions without the two groupings being the same thing, since most of the Bab's own followers did not go on to become Baha'i. Sites significant only after that later split belong in the Baha'i Faith grouping instead.
