Osho Zen Tarot

Osho Zen Tarot is a seventy nine card deck based on discourses by the spiritual teacher Osho, illustrated by Ma Deva Padma and published by St Martin's Press in 1995. It was developed within the Rajneesh commune at Pune, India, and renames and reorders the standard tarot structure around Zen themes, replacing the historical Wands, Cups, Swords and Pentacles with Fire, Water, Clouds and Rainbows and adding a single unnumbered Master card portraying Osho himself, beyond the traditional seventy eight card count every other suit renamed deck in this catalogue keeps to.

That single extra, unnumbered card sitting outside the Major and Minor Arcana altogether is a structural choice unique to this deck within the catalogue; where Ethereal Visions Illuminated Tarot adds two full numbered Major Arcana cards and Beautiful Creatures Tarot extends its suits by two cards each, Osho Zen Tarot adds exactly one card with no suit or number at all. Read as a single card or small spread for reflection on a present state of mind, it draws on Zen Buddhism as taught within the Rajneesh, or Osho, movement specifically, a lineage distinct from the historical Chan and Zen schools it takes its central themes from.
