Tractate Sanhedrin, of Seder Nezikin ("Order of Damages"), governs the Jewish judicial system across eleven chapters: the composition and selection of courts, the taking of testimony, and monetary, corporal and capital punishment. Its tenth chapter, known as perek chelek, departs from legal procedure to discuss the World to Come and who forfeits a share in it, a theological excursus embedded inside an otherwise procedural tractate.
